Advancing High-Performance CFRP for Mobility, Industry & Sports Applications
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation has announced the development of two new additions to its Xlink Tech™ carbon fiber prepreg portfolio — Xlink Tech™ TM-HT (#375) and TM-HS (#372). The company has commenced sample work for the newly developed products.
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is increasingly used across sports and leisure, mobility, and industrial applications due to its combination of light weight, high strength, and high stiffness. However, achieving both high stiffness and durability remains a key challenge, particularly when using high-modulus carbon fiber, which can be more susceptible to impact damage.
Leveraging its proprietary resin design technology, Mitsubishi Chemical has developed the new Xlink Tech series to significantly improve impact resistance and damage tolerance in CFRP made with high-modulus carbon fiber.
The new materials are designed to combine high stiffness with enhanced durability, potentially providing greater flexibility in the design and performance of CFRP components across a wide range of applications.
Mitsubishi Chemical’s continued development of advanced carbon fiber prepregs highlights the growing role of high-performance composite materials in enabling lighter, stronger, and more durable products across modern industries.
